Information tables and more actions this summer

This summer, the Plastic Free Menorca Alliance, with the support of the TUI Care Foundation within the Destination Zero Waste Menorca programme, has reinforced its awareness-raising actions in the island's tourist areas.

Among the most outstanding initiatives is the project Plastic Free Beach in Punta Prima, which seeks to turn this beach into a plastic-free benchmark through reuse points for beach items, a filtered water fountain, permanent signage, information tables and waste collection. Thanks to the collaboration of residents and visitors, 2,345 wastes were removed, of which 1,880 were cigarette butts.

In addition, the member entity 0 Plastic Menorca has promoted the 0 Plastic Experiences, in which 30 tourism companies have offered more sustainable experiences, achieving 858 interactions with tourists. For each of them, 1 kg of plastic has been removed from the sea, connecting the action of visitors with a direct impact.

The Alliance has also expanded the network of Beach Reuse Points (PRAPs) in Arenal d'en Castell and Son Parc, in collaboration with the lifeguard company MarSave, which helps in the monitoring and awareness of users.
