PLASTIC FREE MENORCA COMMITMENT
The Plastic Free Menorca Commitment (CPFM onwards) was born to accompany companies and entities that work or want to work on plastic reduction.
To participate in the CPFM, companies and entities must, at a minimum:
- Comply with the regulations on waste materials (local, insular, Balearic, state, European).
- Have a plastics reduction policy, that is, leave in writing your commitment to reduce the use of plastic based on the initial starting situation. To this end, the Alliance accompanies companies and entities in analyzing their current situation and setting objectives in those areas or aspects in which they may have the capacity for influence and / or improvement.
- Companies should also actively seek solutions to reduce the use of single-use plastics and not replace them with bioplastics (plastics derived from plant products, such as soybean oil, corn or potato starch).
- The CPFM also seeks to extol the ability of companies and entities to raise awareness, asking companies to share with customers their good practices and train their employees in them.
To participate in the CPFM, companies must fill out this contact form and then, the Coordinator of the Menorca Without Plastic Alliance will contact each company to explain the steps to follow to each company.
PLASTIC FREE BALEARICS - DISTINCTION FOR THE HORECA SECTOR
Plastic Free Balearics is a certification that facilitates the reduction of single-use plastics to companies in the HORECA sector throughout the Balearic Territory.
PFB certification is an environmental quality assurance seal that helps businesses not only comply with the Waste and Contaminated Soils Act and European directives but to go much further.
It offers useful tools through which you can identify honest alternatives to single-use plastic products, such as straws and other packaging, and learn about reusable options to eliminate and/or reduce waste.
The certification has a version called Plastic Free Guardians, in which 1 to 5 stars are given to participating companies, according to their commitments in reducing the use of single-use plastics and their renewal will be annual.
All the stars have a common criterion, to comply with the Law of Waste and Contaminated Soils of the Balearic Islands. In addition, a set of products labeled as Red Flag are added and that, despite not being prohibited, have a very high impact on the environment. Another requirement that will have to be met is the elimination or replacement by alternatives that do not include bioplastics.
